In Azaria’s view, the art of voice acting extends beyond mere vocal duplication. A.I. could never substitute the unique creativity that each character demands, especially the improvisational interactions. The actor explained, “In our roles, there's much improvisation. Inviting exchanges and dynamic rhythms can't be captured by merely stringing lines. It’s hard to visualize how a machine could authentically mimic that natural flow.” He asserted that audiences would likely notice the absence of this human touch, much like they discern when a film's quality falters.

Assessing A.I.’s Creative Limitations

Concerns about A.I.-generated performances extend to their authenticity and comedic appeal. Azaria argued, “A.I.-created voices retain slight peculiarities, contributing to a sense of something amiss. He continued, “Candidly, I am worried. This job fulfills my passion, and I dread the prospect of being usurped by technology. While some predict human-like digital faces are five years away, I fear the voice counterparts could arrive soon too.”

Despite these concerns, Azaria acknowledged that technology might offer certain advantages. With A.I., recreating legendary performances, such as Mel Blanc’s classic Bugs Bunny, might become possible. Yet, he firmly believes that this technology could never wholly replace the heart and soul that actors contribute.
